I’ve recently fallen in love with Rachel Hollis, author of “Girl, Wash Your Face” & “Girl, Stop Apologising”. Head-over-heels serious girl crush. She’s amazeballs and has literally changed my life.
She’s the reason I stopped and took a hard look at myself to gauge whether or not I was truly living my best life.
And… I wasn’t.
For 3 years I’ve had “get to my ideal weight” on my New Year’s resolutions. Three.Years.Folks.
I’ve accomplished every darn thing on my resolution list except for this one thing. I kept making excuses. “Life’s too busy”. “My time is best spent making money”. “I’m too busy growing my business”.
After reading this book I stopped making excuses, because Rachel called me on it.
Therefore I hired a trainer. And started writing my goals on my bathroom mirror so I’d see them every freaking morning.
I’m also turning off my phone now on the weekends to stay fully present with my husband and kiddos.
That alone has changed my life in just the past 2 weeks since I’ve found Rachel.
I’m also thoroughly binge-listening her podcasts.
Earlier this week, my husband commented that he noticed I’m going through “a period of discovery”, and he was right!
I’m questioning EVERYTHING.
Am I the best wife I can be? Am I meeting my husband’s needs? Showing up fully present when we’re together, or completely distracted by work and my to-do list? Do I even understand men at all, and how can I be better at this whole wife role? I’ll write a separate post about how I’m diving into the world of David Deida to figure out “what men want”, which is pretty interesting!
What about the best mom? Am I present and fully listening and engaging when my kids are around? That football they want me to throw, and the trampoline they’re begging me to jump on, am I showing up for them?
Am I taking care of me? My body, feeding my soul, soaking up new knowledge? Thankfully over the last few years I’ve gotten really good at this part.
